About Me

I currently live in the Bay area in San Jose, California. Before that I lived in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada for just a little over 8 years.

Work

I am currently employed by Adobe Systems as a Senior Technologist in the Advanced Technology Labs; before that I was with the Photoshop engineering team (for CS3).

Before joining Adobe in 2005 I worked for Inscriber Technology Corporation which became Leitch which then became Harris for just under 6 years.

For more information on my work, check out my LinkedIn profile.

Education

I am a BMath and MMath Computer Science alumnus from the University Of Waterloo. My thesis addressed the issue of simulating the interaction of light with human skin. My former advisor and research partner in this area is Dr. Gladimir Baranoski of the Natural Phenomena Simulation group at the University of Waterloo. I completed Undergraudate studies in 2002 and my Master's in 2005.

Prior to university, I attended Hunting Hills High School in Red Deer, Alberta Canada for grades 10-12.

Research

I have a variety of research interests in computer science. My current interests revolve around tablet/slate computing. I am interesting in coming up with new algorithms for creating various types of content on these devices as well as exploring novel user interfaces and experiences for these devices.

While pursuing my MMath, my interest turned towards the simulation of natural phenomena. Gladimir Baranoski and I developed a model for the interaction of light with human skin named BioSpec. BioSpec was one of the primary products of my MMath research and thesis. I also did some work with virtual goniophotometers in the begining of my MMath.
